The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series for the first time since 1982. Milwaukee beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Thursday night in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series and completed a four game sweep of the two time defending champions.

Los Angeles finally looked alive early. Andy Pages drove in a run in the second inning and Shohei Ohtani followed with a three run homer, his first home run of this postseason, and the Dodgers led 4-0. Tyler Glasnow struck out six and the home crowd believed again.

Milwaukee never blinked. Jake Bauers cut the lead in half with a two run double in the fourth. Bauers tied the game in the fifth with a bases loaded walk after driving in another run. Garrett Mitchell put the Brewers ahead for good with a solo homer in the sixth. David Hamilton added a solo homer off Edwin Diaz in the ninth for the final margin.

Four Brewers pitchers held the Dodgers scoreless over the final seven innings. JoJo Romero earned the win with two scoreless innings and Aaron Ashby closed the final three frames for his second save of the postseason. Los Angeles put the tying run on third with one out in the sixth, the seventh and the eighth. That run never scored.

Bauers was named the Most Valuable Player of the NLCS after going 4 for 14 with one homer and six RBIs in the series. Milwaukee won a club record 103 games this season and will open the World Series at home on Friday, October 23 against the winner of the American League series between Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

The sweep carries a rare piece of history. Milwaukee is the first team across the major leagues, the NBA and the NHL to sweep an opponent that swept them in the previous postseason since the Lakers did it in 1968. Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in this round last year. This year the gamers swept the champions right back.
