Role
Harkless is a two-way guard Detroit signed for his defense. He played 36 NBA games for Utah over the last two seasons, averaging 5.8 points with rugged on-ball defense that earned praise from Will Hardy. At 6-3, his tenacity is his ticket; the jumper decides how long he sticks.
How he got here
Harkless went undrafted in 2023 out of UNLV after stops at Cal State Northridge and Oklahoma. He played in the G League and Canada before catching on with Utah, then signed a two-way contract with Detroit on July 9, 2026.
