Caleb Williams practiced in full for the second straight day on Thursday, putting the Bears quarterback on track to return Sunday against the Falcons after missing three games with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 2.
The Bears have been without their starter since that Week 2 loss. Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum split the work in his place, and Chicago survived at 2-1 in the stretch, but last week's 31-7 loss in Green Bay showed exactly what this offense misses without him.
Head coach Ben Johnson has not named a starter for Sunday and told reporters the decision is still fluid. But Williams worked out hard before the Green Bay game and has now gone full in both the Wednesday walkthrough and Thursday's practice. Two straight full days, this late in the week, point one way.
The rest of the report
Kyler Gordon (calf) was full both days in his practice window. Tyrique Stevenson Sr. (hip) stayed limited. T.J. Edwards (hamstring) did not practice either day, and running back Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe) is expected to miss his second straight game. Dayo Odeyingbo and Keyshaun Elliott were also DNP, with Grady Jarrett and Joe Thuney on rest days Thursday.
Friday brings the official designations. The headline is already written: QB1 is back.
