Golden State held its breath on Sunday. Stephen Curry appeared to suffer a knee injury during the Warriors open practice and limped to the locker room, per Underdog NBA. Then came the update everybody in the Bay needed.

Gear check: Stephen Curry jerseys, tees and hoodies are up at Fanatics.

Steve Kerr says the injury is to Curry's right ankle, not the knee, and Curry himself said "he's fine," Underdog NBA reported minutes later. The scare, for now, looks a lot smaller than the video felt.

The video is still hard to watch. Curry comes up favoring the leg during the scrimmage, walks off slowly under his own power and spends a long minute on the sideline with a trainer before heading in.

An open practice is supposed to be the softest landing in sports. Nobody plans to lose the franchise in a fan event, and for one long stretch on Sunday it looked possible.

Curry is the Warriors. Every set, every spacing decision and every hope for this season runs through number 30, and Golden State has no version of itself without him.

The team is expected to update his status after evaluation. Until then, the Bay waits, and so does the league.
